What a beautiful October we had! We have been enjoying the playground and outside time as much as we can. We’re exploring the tricycles & swings, as well as the play structure. Everyone loved the addition of a kitchen, pots & pans and playfood to the houses.
Our enrichments started and the children really enjoyed them! They danced to the music with Mr. Matt and laughed along to Big Joe’s stories (ask your child about the dancing chicken). We are looking forward to the Art Lab with Mrs. H. next week. We also began our Lively Letters in October. Please check out our Lively Letter wall to see what order we teach the letters and the language we use. Some common phrases we use are “start at the top”, “big line down”, and when cutting we remind them that the “thumb goes on top”. The children have made great progress in just a few weeks!
Art projects are coming along and we finished the lacing apples and started the tissue paper pumpkins. Using our hands, we tore tissue paper and stuck it to contact paper. Sometimes the tissue was easy to rip and other times it was hard. The contact paper was sticky and we learned we couldn’t move a piece after it was placed down. We explored with water color paint, seeing how much water was needed to get the colors we wanted on the paper.
The children enjoyed freeing the pumpkin from the elastics and making different faces on the pumpkins at the activity table. Weighing apples and pumpkins to see if we could balance them out was a class favorite! We will end the month opening up a pumpkin to see what’s inside and feel the different textures.
In November we will continue our fall theme with leaves, acorns and Thanksgiving. As always, please keep communicating with us. It is so helpful to know what goes on in their home life. If you haven’t already brought in a family picture, please remember to do so. The children love looking at them throughout the day! Thank you, Miss Corrigan and Mrs. Wentworth
