About Six Acres Nursery School

Our School

Six Acres is a nonsectarian, non-profit nursery school. We have served Medford and surrounding towns for many decades. We are located next to the Temple Shalom, which is situated in a quiet, residential area. Six Acres’ facilities include six, light-filled classrooms and a spacious “Activity Room” which is used for music & movement and enrichment programs throughout the school year. We offer a large, secluded, well-equipped playground in a safe, natural setting.

Our Philosophy

Our primary goal at Six Acres Nursery School is to encourage a child to become a self-confident, curious and inventive person. We provide both organized and independent activities that help to develop the child’s social, emotional, cognitive, physical and creative growth. We strive to stimulate an interest in learning, to give each child the ability to meet & solve problems and most of all to foster enjoyment of life experiences and the world around us.

Our Program

Our nursery school program is designed to provide children with meaningful and happy experiences through socialization, peer relationships and play. We provide a balance between supervised, free activity and more structured group times.

Upon entering school each day, the children are invited to utilize a variety of materials to work on social, cognitive and fine & gross motor skills and to try new experiences individually or in small groups.

Later in the day the children are encouraged to listen and learn in a group setting through stories, songs and games. Special programs are planned throughout the year to enrich the children’s experiences. Outdoor play is also an important part of each day and we do play outdoors daily, weather permitting.
